“Feline Persistence Pays Off: From Outdoor Visitor to Indoor Family Member”

Meet Reggie, also known as Parmesan Reggiano, a charming orange tabby cat who once lived among a cat colony in Tucson, AZ. During a TNR project to trap, neuter and return the cats, Reggie caught the attention of Courtney from Poets Square Cats, a TNR advocate and cat rescuer. Despite his unusual features – a cross-eyed gaze and a large nose – Reggie’s sweet and friendly nature made him stand out from the other 25 orange cats in the colony. The cats were taken care of by Arcelia, a volunteer for Southern Arizona Cat Rescue, who continued to keep an eye on Reggie even after he was neutered. He would often hang out with the rescuers whenever they arrived to help the other cats.

Reggie had a craving for being in the spotlight and loved being at the center of everything. He’d often sit right in the middle, like he was the main attraction. When they were finishing up their work, Reggie would even jump into their trunk as if he wanted to come along.

Arcelia was very familiar with Reggie as he would show up every day for his meals. He would often be found loitering outside her house, sometimes even sleeping on her car or a palm tree that had been trimmed down in the backyard, according to Arcelia’s conversation with Love Meow.

The cross-eyed tabby in the neighborhood was quite popular among his peers. He had no qualms about approaching people and making his demands known. His confidence was unmatched, and he always craved attention. It was obvious that Reggie would thrive as an indoor cat in a loving home.

Arcelia was taking care of numerous rescued cats at her house and had a shortage of foster homes. Despite having many high-priority cats, she assured Reggie that his chance would come soon. One of her foster cats got adopted recently, so she welcomed the sweet orange tabby who had been waiting patiently for his turn. Courtney shared that he was indoors with his foster mom and getting all the attention he wanted, sleeping comfortably among blankets. Reggie made himself comfortable on his new bed, behaving as if he was always part of their family. He was playful, sweet-natured, and got along well with everyone. Reggie enjoyed spending time napping on cat beds, snuggling with his foster mom, and playing with an assortment of toys. He would often approach his humans and rub against them to thank them for taking him in. With the assistance of Southern Arizona Cat Rescue, Reggie will receive dental care that he desperately needs. The rescue is thrilled to help Reggie learn to enjoy the pampering lifestyle of indoor cats. The cat colony required the assistance of a community, and many of them have already found their forever homes. Reggie couldn’t be happier, enjoying being the center-of-attention, snuggling in all the soft things, and not worrying about anything.
