Sarge, a German Shepherd from Ohio, is a prime example of such a beautiful bond. Sarge gained popularity for taking care of a young orphaned fawn named Buckwheat on Bucky’s Porch. However, Sarge wasn’t always the caring dog we know him as today. He used to be quite moody and preferred discipline over play.

Sarge and Buckwheat were out enjoying the beauty of nature when his loving owner brought home a helpless fawn. Upon seeing the little creature, Sarge’s heart was filled with compassion and he knew that he had found a new purpose in life – to be the protector and caregiver to this orphaned deer. His grumpy attitude was replaced with a sense of responsibility, and he took on the role of a reliable guardian to ensure that the fawn grew up without any worries. Sarge devoted himself completely to the young fawn, guiding and protecting him as he matured into a healthy adult. Eventually, Buckwheat became strong and independent enough to be released back into the wild, where he could thrive on his own. Sarge’s newfound purpose in life had brought him joy and fulfillment, and he knew that he had made a difference in the life of an innocent animal.

Sarge, the senior German Shepherd, is always seen taking care of the fawns he helps raise. Although it was initially upsetting for him, his story became viral and led to the adoption of new orphaned deer, which improved his mood. Sarge enjoyed every moment of caring for the deer, and they reciprocated the love. It was an uncommon sight, but Sarge’s owners were happy that he had found a purpose, and they facilitated it gladly since they enjoyed it as well. He became so proficient at his job that he even performed check-ups on the fawns to ensure they were not sick or injured, utilizing his impressive canine olfactory senses. Chief, the successor to Sarge’s inheritance, is working diligently to live up to Sarge’s expectations and make him proud. However, time waits for no one, and sadly, Sarge passed away a year ago, leaving behind a great loss in many hearts. Yet, Sarge will always be remembered by his owners, and his legacy will continue through Chief. Although Chief is just a young pup, he possesses the courage and determination to fill Sarge’s enormous shoes. We look forward to observing Chief’s progress and anticipate great accomplishments from him in the future.
